BioExpress® System
Category Genomics>Gene Expression Databases/Tools
Abstract The BioExpress System is a continually growing genomic database of gene expression data and associated clinical information from over 18,000 human and animal tissues and cell line samples. The sample population spans a wide range of normal, diseased, and drug- treated specimens, and focuses on major disease areas including cardiovascular, oncology, central nervous system, inflammatory, and metabolic diseases.
The system also includes a wide range of normal tissues for comparison, and complementary in vivo and in vitro disease models built from animal and human sources to assist in the identification and evaluation of potential disease targets and biomarkers.
The BioExpress System provides gene expression data and associated clinical information in the following 'therapeutic areas':
BioExpress Oncology Suite -- contains gene expression data from primary, metastatic, and benign tumor samples, and normal samples, including matched adjacent controls. The suite includes valuable hematological malignancy samples for many well-known cancers. The thousands of samples in this data suite represent all major cancers and span a wide range of tissue types.
The BioExpress Oncology Suite allows you to:
1) Compare the gene expression profiles between normal and tumor tissues;
2) Identify differential gene expression between different tissue types and different stages of cancer;
3) Discover tumor-associated potential drug targets, biomarkers and common pathways leading to cancer.
BioExpress Inflammation Suite -- contains gene expression profiles for both autoimmune and inflammatory diseases. Due to the complex nature of inflammatory processes, targeted diseases represented in the BioExpress Inflammation Suite include a combination of human clinical samples, animal models of disease development, and cellular systems. The integration of these sample types aids in the understanding of underlying diseases processes and disease mechanisms.
The BioExpress Inflammation Suite includes the following disease indications:
1) Autoimmunity -
- a) Rheumatoid Arthritis;
- b) Systemic Lupus Erythematosus;
- c) Ulcerative Colitis;
- d) Crohn's Disease;
- e) Hashimoto's Thyroiditis;
- f) Psoriasis.
2) Respiratory Diseases -
- a) Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease;
- b) Asthma;
- c) Chronic Sinusitis.
3) Muscular/Skeletal Diseases -
- a) Osteoarthritis.
4) Infectious Diseases -
- a) Hepatitis B & C;
- b) Lyme Disease.
By combining gene expression data with extensive donor clinical history, the BioExpress Inflammation Suite allows you to:
1) Compare the gene expression profiles between normal and diseased tissues;
2) Identify differential gene expression between different tissue types;
3) Discover potential drug targets, biomarkers, and common pathways leading to disease.
BioExpress Cardiovascular Suite -- is a large-scale, comprehensive reference data set consisting of gene expression profiles, clinical annotations, and histopathology information derived from the analysis of the manufacturer's collection of human tissues and complementary animal models related to cardiac and vascular diseases.
The BioExpress Cardiovascular Suite contains genomic information for a wide range of cardiovascular disorders, including:
1) Myocardial Infarction;
2) Heart Failure (i.e. Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy);
3) Stroke (Carotid Endarectomies);
4) Aortic aneurysm;
5) Atherosclerosis and Restenosis;
6) Peripheral Vascular Diseases (diabetics and non-diabetics).
By combining gene expression data with extensive donor clinical history, the BioExpress Cardiovascular Suite allows you to:
1) Compare the gene expression profiles between normal and diseased cardiac and vascular tissues;
2) Discover potential drug targets and biomarkers;
3) Identify overlapping expression patterns that may indicate shared pathways across multiple cardiac and vascular diseases.
BioExpress Central Nervous (CNS) System Suite -- is a large scale, comprehensive reference data set consisting of gene expression profiles, clinical annotations, and pathological information data derived from the manufacturer's collection of high-quality, well-documented psychiatric and neurodegenerative diseased human brain tissues and complementary animal models.
The BioExpress CNS Suite contains genomic information on a range of disorders, including:
1) Alzheimer's Disease;
2) Major Depression;
3) Schizophrenia;
4) Parkinson's Disease;
5) Cocaine Addiction;
6) Anxiety.
Samples that comprise this broad range of disorders are represented by multiple cortical and subcortical regions, with demographically matched human control donor brain regions and extensive donor clinical information. As a result, the BioExpress CNS Suite represents one of the most comprehensive genomic resources available for CNS- related drug discovery today.
By combining gene expression data with extensive donor clinical history, the BioExpress CNS Suite allows you to:
1) Compare the gene expression profiles between diseased and matched control tissues over multiple cortical and subcortical regions of the same donor brain;
2) Discover potential drug targets and biomarkers;
3) Identify overlapping expression patterns that may indicate shared pathways across multiple diseases.
BioExpress Metabolic Disorders Suite -- contains gene expression profiles for Type 2 diabetes, obesity, and metabolic syndromes. The data set contains several well-defined case study experiments involving animal and cell models. In addition, the manufacturer is continuing to expand their collection of human subcutaneous adipose and skeletal muscle tissue samples to develop outcomes data for diabetic and obese donors, comparing before and after drug treatment, exercise, and weight loss.
By combining gene expression data with extensive donor clinical history, the BioExpress Metabolic Disorders Suite allows you to:
1) Compare the gene expression profiles between diseased and normal tissues;
2) Discover potential drug targets and biomarkers;
3) Identify overlapping expression patterns that may indicate shared pathways across multiple diseases.
BioExpress Atlas Reference Data Suite -- is a genomic database containing gene expression information gathered from a broad range of exceptionally high-quality normal human, mouse, and rat tissues. The BioExpress Atlas Reference Data Suite allows the rapid determination of tissue specificity and range of gene expression profiles for genes of interest across the most relevant normal human organs and tissues and control animal models.
You are able to rapidly compare the distribution of expression profiles of specific genes across a set of normal tissues with dramatic savings in time and cost associated with sample collection, processing, and analysis.
The BioExpress Atlas Reference Data Suite enables:
1) Unlimited gene expression queries across thousands of normal samples encompassing over 100 normal human organ and tissue types;
2) Rapid screening and prioritization of potential therapeutic targets through their distribution patterns across normal tissues;
3) Identification of gene expression patterns of candidate genes across an array of normal tissue samples, leveraging the value of proprietary sequence information and genomic technologies.
You can access the BioExpress System through flexible subscription terms that take into account your specific needs. You can choose a full subscription to the entire BioExpress System or select specific sample subsets relevant to your therapeutic area of research.
In addition to accessing the human and animal tissues and cell line samples, subscriptions also include on-site training and use of the Genesis Enterprise System® Software (see G6G Abstract Number 20123) for enterprise-wide, rigorous, open-ended data mining and analysis.
