ArrayExpress

Category Genomics>Gene Expression Databases/Tools

Abstract ArrayExpress is an international public repository/system of databases and tools for storing and providing access to functional genomics data. Functional genomics data consists of gene expression, comparative genomic hybridization (CGH) and chromatin- immunoprecipitation (ChIP) experiments.

ArrayExpress consists of two (2) main databases -

Additionally, ArrayExpress offers three (3) major software tools -

The ArrayExpress Repository is an archive of microarray experiments, typically related to peer reviewed publications (or generated by publicly funded projects). By contrast, the ArrayExpress Data Warehouse is a value-added database that can be queried for expression profiles of individual genes or groups of genes by their properties, such as names or Gene Ontology (GO) terms.

Expression Profiler enables you to analyze data online, either downloaded from ArrayExpress, or from other sources (e.g., your own data).

MIAMExpress is a web-based tool allowing you to submit Minimum Information About a Microarray Experiment (MIAME)-compliant data from relatively small experiments (typically up to 20 hybridizations) to the ArrayExpress Repository whereas Tab2MAGE is optimized for bulk submissions. In addition to these three (3) software tools, there are many other software components offered and used by ArrayExpress internally.
