ASCENTA® System

Category Cross-Omics>Biomarker Discovery/Analysis/Tools

Abstract The ASCENTA System from Gene Logic allows you to immediately access microarray expression data from difficult-to-obtain, well annotated diseased and normal tissue sample sets [defined by relevant clinical parameters (i.e. morphology, disease stage, gender, age, medication)] that will empower your drug target and biomarker discovery efforts.

Combined with this rich content, you can use ASCENTA System’s advanced analysis tools to realize significant time, cost, and resource savings.

This system facilitates rapid candidate target and biomarker discovery by providing knowledge of:

1) Regulation of a target's gene expression profile across a panorama of human diseases and normal tissues, in addition to several animal and cell culture model systems.

2) Other genes that pattern match an expression profile for selected target genes of interest.

3) Expression profiles across disease and normal tissues for entire gene families related to target genes of interest.

4) Regulation of differential gene expression across metabolic and regulatory pathways.

The ASCENTA System contains the following features/capabilities:

1) The PathwayPrioritizer™ Report allows you to quickly analyze and rank pathways with respect to differential gene expression events between altered biological states, and learn more about pathways of interest using Gene Logic’s highly informative Pathway Reports.

2) The Marker/X™ Tool can find, sort, and rank genes with unique expression and differential regulation patterns in human diseases to identify potential biomarkers and drug targets.

3) The new Global Mean e-Northern® Tool helps you characterize genes that have tissue specific or unique expression profiles across human tissues and diseases.

4) Diff/X™ Reports provide summary information, allowing you to quickly examine key regulation events for genes, pathways, and gene families with respect to tissue and therapeutic area classification.

You can find focal points of differential gene expression and/or quickly identify genes linked to pathways commonly regulated in related diseases.

5) The Match/X™ Tool finds genes that share the same patterns of expression as a gene of interest.

Study Data allows you to examine changes in target gene expression within the context of carefully controlled laboratory studies of cell lines and animal models.

Use Gene Logic’s intuitive Gene Family Browser to learn about structural relationships between genes grouped into 11 broad gene families, newly sub-curated into more than 80 smaller sub-classifications.

A Rich and Reliable Data Resource --

1) ASCENTA System contains gene expression profiles from over 9,000 human, rat and mouse samples curated into over 1,600 sample sets critically relevant to the key therapeutic areas of inflammatory disease, cardiovascular disease, oncology, central nervous system disorders, and metabolic disorders.

The ASCENTA System also includes a wide range of normal human, rat, and mouse tissues for comparison.

2) Gene expression data are obtained from Affymetrix GeneChip® microarrays processed using rigorous quality control procedures from initial acquisition through RNA isolation, labeling, microarray processing, imaging, normalization, and analysis.

3) A highly intuitive user interface allows you to conduct data analysis in an integrated, informative environment designed to interrelate gene expression data with biological significance.

4) Gene expression data for sample sets of interest can be queried by individual gene, gene family, biological pathway, gene ontology class, or by genome-wide comparisons.
